About
I live in the village of Adlington in Lancashire with my husband, our 7-year-old, and our Labrador-Golden Retriever cross. When I’m not knee-deep in old documents, you’ll usually find me collecting vintage photo postcards, hunting for old glass beer bottles, or mentally wandering through the 19th century.
My interest in family history began when I was a child and discovered a beautifully hand-drawn tree my dad had made as a teenager. In the pre-internet days, my pocket money didn’t stretch far enough for birth, marriage and death records - but a few years later, my student overdraft certainly did! That early spark became a lifelong passion.
Most of my own ancestors lived in the Lancashire villages around where I grew up - and where I still live today. Tracing their stories naturally led to an interest in local history, as I wanted to understand not just who they were, but how they lived. That curiosity led me to set up a local heritage society and help run our village family history group.
After years of researching for fun, I realised this was what I truly wanted to do for a living. I began an MSc in Genealogy at the University of Strathclyde and have since completed a master’s degree. I now offer professional research services, combining academic training with a genuine love of uncovering the past.
Whether you’re starting from scratch, stuck on a brick wall, or just need a fresh pair of eyes, I’d love to help you explore your family’s story.
